Baccharis pilularis, commonly known as Coyote Brush, is a native evergreen shrub found along the coast of California and parts of Oregon. It is characterized by its dense, bushy growth habit, reaching heights of up to ten feet and spreading through seed. The narrow leaves are glossy green and aromatic when crushed. Inconspicuous flowers appear in late summer to fall, followed by fluffy white seeds that persist into winter. Coyote Brush is well-adapted to coastal environments and thrives in a variety of soil types, making it a common component of coastal sage scrub and chaparral habitats.
