Corethrogyne filaginifolia, commonly known as California Aster, is a herbaceous perennial native to California and the southwestern United States. It is characterized by its slender, erect stems and clusters of daisy-like flowers with lavender to pink petals surrounding yellow disc florets. The plant typically grows in dense, bushy clumps, reaching heights of up to two feet. Its narrow leaves are coated in fine hairs, giving them a grayish-green appearance and enhancing the plant's drought tolerance. California Aster blooms from late spring to fall, providing a burst of color in coastal sage scrub, chaparral, and grassland habitats.
