Iva hayesiana, commonly known as San Diego Povertyweed, is a hardy, perennial shrub native to arid and semi-arid regions of southern California and northern Baja California. This drought-tolerant plant grows up to 3 feet tall, with slender, branching stems and small, green, lance-shaped leaves. It thrives in sandy or rocky soils and is often found in dry washes, chaparral, and coastal sage scrub habitats. During its bloom period, it produces clusters of small, greenish flowers that support pollinators.
