Muhlenbergia rigens, commonly known as Deergrass, is a native perennial grass found in California and other western regions of North America. This ornamental grass is characterized by its clump-forming growth habit and slender, arching leaves that reach heights of 2 to 5 feet. In late summer to fall, it produces tall, airy flower spikes that add a graceful element to the landscape. In addition to its aesthetic appeal, Deergrass also supports wildlife by providing cover and habitat for various mammals, birds and insects aswell.
