Anemopsis californica (Yerba mansa)

Coast, Foothill, Mountain

Anemopsis californica, also known as Yerba Mansa, is an herbaceous perennial plant native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. It features large, glossy, evergreen leaves and unique, white, cone-shaped flower clusters that rise above the foliage reaching about 1.5'. Yerba Mansa is known for its medicinal properties and has been used traditionally by Native American tribes for its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory qualities. With its attractive foliage and striking flowers, Anemopsis californica adds a touch of beauty and intrigue to wetland gardens or boggy areas. The monotypic genus Anemopsis has only one species, Anemopsis californica.
